IT11998: PUREAPPLICATION SYSTEM: VIRTUAL MACHINE CONSOLE LINK AND THE RESETMKSIPS REST API DOES NOT WORK

APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • The user was trying to access a virtual machine console
but got an error :
Error: "Cannot complete login due to an incorrect user name or
password."

While investigating this issue they attempted to reset the IP
addresses assigned to the mouse, keyboard and screen (MKS)
Console IP group using the /admin/resources/subnets?resetmksips
REST API.

They did not see a change occur after executing the REST API.

Local fix

  • login to PSM and run:
vmi removeMKS resetips

Problem summary

  • The code implementing the reset MKS IP addresses REST API was
missing a call to remove the MKS virtual machine kernel.

Problem conclusion

  • A code fix is being provided in PureApplication System version
2.1.2.0.
