Error description
The following message can be seen prior to the server crash in the activity log: 12-10-2015 21:21:45 ANR0950I Session 1093 for node NODE123 is using inline server data deduplication. (SESSION: 1093) The dsmsvc.err will show a call stack similar to the following: Exception code: C0000005 (ACCESS_VIOLATION) at 00000000D8117C80 Call stack: Unavailable, Unavailable RabinLocateFP()+244, Unavailable FingerPrintDataStream()+1B4, Unavailable ProcessInlineDedup()+1DA, Unavailable SdStore()+501, Unavailable sdCreate()+5F5, Unavailable CreateBitfile()+A74, Unavailable bfCreate()+FC5, Unavailable CreateBitfile()+6E8, Unavailable SmDoBackInsNormEnhanced()+4B3, Unavailable SmNodeSession()+2675, Unavailable HandleNodeSession()+19AB, Unavailable smExecuteSession()+1E28, Unavailable SessionThread()+407, Unavailable startThread()+171, Unavailable beginthreadex()+107, Unavailable endthreadex()+192, Unavailable BaseThreadInitThunk()+D, Unavailable RtlUserThreadStart()+21, Unavailable When the server parses data during inline dedup, an error can be encountered when parsing files with alternate data streams resulting in a server crash. Specifically, to encounter the crash the file being processed must only have data present in the alternate data stream. For example, Macintosh files being backed up on a Windows system will present alternate data streams that might encounter the problems if the backup is using inline server dedup and the file only has data in the alternate data stream. The link below is to a utility that allows one to determine if a file contains alternate data streams: https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb897440.aspx In addition, alternate data streams are presented as metadata to the server. Metadata is not deduplicated. Local fix
