Error description
PureApplication System - The High Availably function on the Power compute nodes fails to move all the virtual machines (VMs) from a failing compute node to an available working compute node. When a compute node has a fatal hardware failure, the system is supposed to detect the failure and automatically move the VMs to another available compute node in the cloud group. The moved VMs will be automatically started if the cloud group has enough compute resource to run the virtual machines.
Local fix
Problem summary
In some coditions the hardware failure is difficult to detect. Code needs to be added to check the status of the logical partitions (LPARs) on a compute node. If every LPAR is "Not Available", then initialize the compute node. This will activate the high availability process of moving the virtual machines to another available compute node in the cloud group.
Problem conclusion
A code fix is being provided in PureApplication System version 2.1.2.0.
