APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • The deployment fails while the image is locked during the export
operation to the second system and the deployment operation
attempts to access it. This problem is not multisystem specific,
it would fail if those two operations were being executed on a
single system.

The error in the deployment log is:
CWZIP8706E The following VMWare task running in the virtual
management environment did not complete successfully: ERROR:
com.ibm.venture.vmware.sdk.vim25.FileLocked copy file.

Local fix

  • The problem occurs when an image is being exported and deployed
at the same time. The user can delete the failed deployment and
then either perform an export operation or a deployment
operation.

Problem summary

  • The image was being locked during the export operation
and also during the deployment operation which caused
the error while both operations were executing at the
same time.

Problem conclusion

  • A code fix is being provided in PureApplication System
version 2.1.2.0.
