IT10712: WINDOWS JAVA GUI DOES NOT LOAD AFTER UPGRADE TO VERSION 7.1.2.3 SHOWING "NO JRE FOUND" MESSAGE

TSM 7.1.2.x interim fix client downloads

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• After upgrading baclient to version 7.1.2.3 the Windows Java
  GUI cannot be launched due to the following error message:
  "No JRE found. Please install a JRE version 1.5.0 or above and
  try again.
   If JRE is already installed on your machine, then make sure the
  PATH
  environment variable contains path to javaw.exe."
  
  Scheduled VM backups may also return the following error message
  in the dsmerror.log:
  08/11/2015 20:08:27 ANS9488E Java Runtime Environment (JRE) was
  not found. File c:\Program
  Files\Tivoli\TSM\baclient\\jvm8010\jre\bin\javaw.exe does not
  exist.
  
  In addition, the wrong product version is displayed in the
  Control Panel "Programs and Features" applet: Instead of
  7.1.2.3, the product verson appears as 7.1.2.0.

Problem conclusion

• The JRE required for the 7.1.2.3 Win x64 Java GUI was omitted
  from the original 7.1.2.3 package on the FTP server. A new
  package with the JRE is  replacing the original package, and
  will allow the Java GUI to work correctly.
  
                           Size of original 7.1.2.3 package:
  211,108,648 bytes
                           Size of fixed 7.1.2.3 package:
  356,417,128 bytes
  
  The problem with the product version shown in the Control Pandl
  "Programs and Features" has also been fixed; the correct version
  7.1.2.3 is  displayed.
  
  Please note: If you already installed the original package, you
  must uninstall it before installing the new 7.1.2.3 package.
  

Temporary fix

• The 7.1.2.3 Win x64 package has been corrected and will be
  replaced on the FTP server.
