Error description

  • The Tivoli Storage Manager server can crash after issuing the
DELETE PATH and/or DELETE DRIVE commands while an associated
    drive is in DISMOUNT status.

    Customer/L2 Diagnostics:
The following failing callstack can be extracted from the
    dump file generated (Linux example):

     #0 ScsiDismountVolume ()
     #1 MmsDismountVolume ()
     #2 PerformDismount ()
     #4 DismountThread ()
     #5 StartThread ()

Local fix

  • Do not issue the DELETE PATH/DRIVE commands while an associated
drive is in DISMOUNT status. If the drive is hung in this
status, consider recycling the server instance to recover
    without a crash.
