APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• When TPC added support for SVC/V7000 firmware levels 7.3 (and
  up); functions relevant to earlier
  SVC/V7K firmware versions broke.
  The result is that the TPC GUI will report  a "status 12" pop-up
  message which states:  "GEN7022E: A
  server error occurred while retrieving performance data"
  To diagnose this problem:
  TPC Data server logs (server_0000x.log) will contain the
  following:
  com.tivoli.itsrm.common.GeneralException: GEN7022E at
  com.tivoli.itsrm.pm.server.svp.ReportHndlr.handlePerformanceRepo
  rt(ReportHndlr.java:1033) at
  com.tivoli.itsrm.pm.server.svp.ReportHndlr.getReportDataFromPM(R
  eportHndlr.java:764) at
  com.tivoli.itsrm.pm.server.svp.ReportHndlr.access$000(ReportHndl
  r.java:167) at
  com.tivoli.itsrm.pm.server.svp.ReportHndlr$WorkerThread.run(Repo
  rtHndlr.java:2315)
  Tracing this back to the Device Server's Performance Manager
  reporting API getPerfData method, we
  can see TPC encounter a DB2 return code indicating SQL numeric
  data conversion failure:

  performance data query for SQL: SELECT

  com.ibm.db2.jcc.am.SqlDataException: DB2 SQL Error:
  SQLCODE=-413, SQLSTATE=22003, SQLERRMC=null,
  DRIVER=3.65.77
  The SQLCODE=-413 message is defined as Overflow occurred during
  numeric data type conversion.
  RECREATE STEPS:
  Run performance monitor jobs against SVC/V7000 firmware levels
  lower than 7.3 (in TPC versions
  5.2.2+) and observe the GEN7022E message when creating
  performance reports in the standalone TPC
  GUI.

Local fix

• Exclude the "Readahead Percentage of Cache Hits" metric from the
  report definition.

Problem conclusion

• Formulas updated so that SVC level older than 7.3 will still be
  working properly.  The fix for this APAR is targeted for the
  following maintenance package:
