Error description

  • During reclamation or move data, the server reconstructs
bitfiles. During this process there can be a situation where
the server using "query stgpool" will incorrectly report the
number of 'Moved Bytes' as a size that way exceeds the size of
the storage pool being reclaimed or of the volume being moved.

    For example:

    query stgpool

    Process Process Description Process Status
      Number
    -------- --------------------
    -----------------------------------
3,781 Space Reclamation Offsite Volume(s) (storage pool
                                                   STGPOOL), Moved
                                    Files: 4760, Moved
                                                   Bytes: 16,383 PB,
                                    Deduplicated Bytes: 0

                                    KB, Unreadable Files: 0,
                                    Unreadable
                                                    Bytes: 0 KB.
                                    Current Physical File
                                                      (bytes): None
                                    Current output volume(s):
                                                   123456L3.

Notice Moved Bytes is 16,383 PB but in this case storage pool
    has capacity of 540,170 GB

    Level 2 diagnostics:
A server trace with DFMOVE AFMOVE ASVOL flags will show total
bytes reducing until it would have hit a negative number
and thus reports the huge number.
