Error description

  • When running runmqsc and displaying your channel status details
you see your channel is showing a MCAUSER as you expect:
    .
    AMQ8417: Display Channel Status details.
     CHANNEL(CHAN1.SVRCONN) CHLTYPE(SVRCONN)
     CONNAME(11.111.11.11) CURRENT
     MCAUSER(user1) STATUS(RUNNING)
     SUBSTATE(RECEIVE)
    .
However, you notice that one of your channels has a MCAUSER
    value of '*':
    .
    AMQ8417: Display Channel Status details.
     CHANNEL(CHAN2.SVRCONN) CHLTYPE(SVRCONN)
     CONNAME(22.222.22.22) CURRENT
     MCAUSER(*) STATUS(RUNNING)
     SUBSTATE(RECEIVE)
    .
Normally, MCAUSER(*) will appear when multiple users are
accessing the channel at the same time; however, you have mapped
all of your connections to one user id.

Problem summary

  • ****************************************************************
    USERS AFFECTED:
    Customers with:
multiple client channels with different users
CHLAUTH setting MCAUSER to the same user name

    Platforms affected:
    MultiPlatform

    ****************************************************************
    PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:
The "*" value was shown incorrectly when an MCAUSER attribute
truncated to non-whitespace characters was compared with one
which was space-filled, leading to the incorrect conclusion that
    the attributes were different.

Problem conclusion

  • The MQ queue manager logic has been updated to ensure that
truncated attributes and space padded MCAUSER attributes are
    normalized before being compared.

The channel status will continue to correctly display MCAUSER(*)
if there are multiple MCA user IDs in use on the channel
    instance.
