Error description

  • In MQ v8 when a queue is defined, in some cases this queue
object cannot be displayed. An error will be thrown saying that
the object is not found. Attempting to recreate the same queue
returns an error saying object already exists. This problem may
happen with other MQ objects as well. The following errors can
seen when the above is tried in runmqsc:

     display qlocal(Q_NAME)
     1 : display qlocal(Q_NAME )
AMQ8147: WebSphere MQ object Q_NAME not found.

     define qlocal(Q_NAME)
     2 : define qlocal(Q_NAME)
AMQ8150: WebSphere MQ object already exists.
     end

Local fix

  • Stop all users of the queue.
    Delete the queue definition.
    Redefine the queue definition.

Problem summary

  • ****************************************************************
    USERS AFFECTED:
All MQ v8 users may face the issue where some of the MQ defined
    queues cannot be displayed.

    Platforms affected:
    MultiPlatform

    ****************************************************************
    PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:
Each MQ object has an entry value registered in the object
catalog file. When a display on the queue is issued, MQ could
not find the object type value for the defined object. Hence it
exits the search on the object catalog file and returned object
    not found error.

Problem conclusion

  • Code changes have been made to re-check for the objects in the
object catalog file looking for hash values that match the
    object.
