APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• The script used to start the Tivoli Storage Manager client
  component dsmcad revokes to start on Ubuntu. This is caused by a
  script failure. The script query that verifies the operating
  system type does not contain the Ubuntu operating system.
  Therefore the script stops after the Ubuntu operating system was
  detected.
  

Local fix

• Update the script /opt/tivoli/tsm/client/ba/bin/rc.dsmcad. Add
  the following entires: TBD

  The Tivoli Storage Manager client component dsmcad is required
  to run if the Tivoli Storage Manager scheduler or the web client
  must be used.
  Due to a program error in the script that is used to start the
  dsmcad the service revokes to start on Ubuntu.
  The script that is used to start the dsmcad will stop with the
  error message: "This distribution is not supported".
  

Problem conclusion

• The problem has been fixed and the dsmcad can be used on Ubuntu
  now.
