Error description

  • When restoring Tivoli Storage Manager database with 'dsmserv
    restore db' command,
the 'on' option can be used to specify a file
that lists the directories to which the database is restored to.

If the file specified by 'on' option is incorrectly entered as a
    directory name,
such as 'on=/directory1', the server should report a ANR2488W
    warning message.

ANR2488W List file 'file_name' could not be opened.

The restore continues using the previously defined locations
from when the database backup occurred.

If the file specified by the 'on' option is empty a warning
message should also be issued to detail this.
Currently it does not do so.

    Tivoli Storage Manager Versions Affected:
Tivoli Storage Manager Server versions 6.3.x and 7.1.x

    Initial Impact: Low

    Additional Keywords:
TSM zztsm63 zztsm71 restore database on

Local fix

  • Rerun restore using correct 'on=file_name' syntax.
