APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• When using Tivoli Storage Manager for Virtual Environments: Data
  Protection for VMware to create a VM backup of a VM with
  application protection enabled,
  issuing the command:
   tdpexcc query tsm
  via one of these in guest applications:
  - Tivoli Storage Manager for Databases: Data Protection for
  - Tivoli Storage Manager for Mail: Data Protection for Microsoft
    Exchange Server
  - Tivoli Storage FlashCopy Manager for Microsoft SQLServer
  - Tivoli Storage FlashCopy Manager for Microsoft Exchange Server
  will cause an error similar to:
  ANS4063W IBM Tivoli Storage Manager application protection
  cannot copy the application metafile 'APPPROTECTIONDBINFO'.XML
  from the following VM 'my VMname'. Individual database restore
  from this backup is not supported.
  

Local fix

• Wait until the completion of the VM backup operation before
  using one of the referenced products to 'query tsm'.

Problem conclusion

• The Tivoli Storage Manager Client / FlashCopy Manager VSS
  Requestor has been updated so that when a Tivoli Storage Manager
  for Virtual Environments: Data Protection for VMware application
  protection backup is running, it will not prevent backup query
  command output from including VSS backup information and no
  warning message for vm backup.
