Local fix

  • Ensure that all file-level restore mount operations have been
    cleaned up.
After that, open with a text editor and edit the file
    vmFileLevelRestoreDataSet.xml in C:\ProgramData\Tivoli\TSM\.
Remove all lines between the entries "<vmFileLevelRestoreData>"
    and "</vmFileLevelRestoreData>".
Note the lines mentioned above have to remain in the file as
well as the line containing "<?xml version='1.0'
    encoding='ISO-8859-1' ?>".

    * This issue is projected to be fixed in the Tivoli Storage *

    * Note 2: This is subject to change at the discretion of IBM. *
    ****************************************************************
The Tivoli Storage Manager Backup and Archive Client dsmc
command terminates the mount clean up operation for virtual
machines with return code 6523. That makes the subsequent
    cleanup fail.

Problem conclusion

  • IBM Tivoli Storage Manager Backup and Archive Client has been
fixed to identify the corresponding error conditions and ignored
them. Now the the clean up works correctly.

Temporary fix

  • Tivoli Storage Manager Client on Windows 7.1.3.1
Note1: Until a Data Protection for VMware packaged fix of a
fixing Tivoli Storage Manager Client level is available, Data
Protection for VMware customers can install an use a fixed level
of the the Tivoli Storage Manager Client in their environment.
Note 2: This is subject to change at the discretion of IBM.
