IT07960: SERVER 7.1 SUMMARY_EXTENDED TABLE SHOWS 0 BYTES FOR 6.4 CLIENTS

Error description

  • Starting with Tivoli Storage Manager server 6.3.3, a new table
    view called SUMMARY_EXTENDED was introduced. This is a superset
    of the SUMMARY table view.
    When the server is at 7.1, 6.4 client is not able to check the
    server version correctly in this function and will send the
    wrong information to the server. The result is that the BYTES
    field of the SUMMARY_EXTENDED table view shows as 0 bytes, even
    with a successful operation that processed xx bytes. For
    example, this is a successful VM backup but the BYTES field
    shows 0 bytes:

    This problem has been fixed in client 7.1. In other words, the
    following client and server levels are NOT affected by this
    APAR:
    1. Client 6.4 reporting to server 6.3.x (6.3.3 is the lowest).
    2. Client 7.1 reporting to any server level.

  • Upgrade the client to 7.1 or use server 6.3.x (6.3.3 is the
