IT07622: DEPLOYMENT OF THE CLIENT FAILS WITH ANE4252E AFTER PREVIOUS DEPLOYMENT ATTEMPT

APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • After performing a client deployment, subsequent deployment of
    the client fails.  For example, a client deployment at 6.4.2.1
    is performed, a subsequent deployment of 7.1.0.3 is attempted.
    The setup.log shows the following error message:
    22.01.2015 14:54:32,62 ANE4252E The setup script failed to start
    the deployment manager as a scheduled task with the Windows "at"
    command. Ensure that the Windows Task Scheduler service is
    running. It is possible that the system event log contains more
    details about the failure. Reschedule the client deployment.
    This is the result of Windows not switching the task status for
    updatemgr from 'Running' to 'Ready' after the first deployment
    task ended.  This problem will not be experienced if a reboot
    occurs between deployment attempts.
    Customer/L2 Diagnostics:
    The following command can be run to determine the status of the
    updatemgr task.
    SCHTASKS /query /tn updatemgr
    
    Initial Impact: Medium
    
    Tivoli Storage Manager Versions Affected:
    6.3, 6.4, 7.1
    

Local fix

  • Manually execute the following commands at a Windows command
    prompt or reboot the system, then perform the deployment again.
       SCHTASKS /delete /tn updatemgr /f

Problem conclusion

  • Deployment of the client can continue without errors after
    previous deployment attempt.
    

Temporary fix

  • A fix for this problem is currently targeted for interim fix
    package 6.3.2.4. Until the interim fix is actually available
    this information is subject to change at the discretion of IBM.
