IT06725: TIVOLI STORAGE MANAGER SERVER V7.1 GUI INSTALLATION MAY CRASH ON RHEL 6

APAR status

Error description

• If a user installs TSM Server V7.1 in GUI mode, IBM Installation
  Manager GUI may crash on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6 due to an
  incompatibility between the cairo library and the GTK library.
  
  The IBM Installation Manager GUI crashes and a JVM termination
  window pops up with the following text:
  
  JVM terminated. Exit code=1

  The install log file contains the following information:

  2.24 or higher and the cairo library is lower than 1.9.4.  This

Local fix

• Do one of the following:
  
  1) Run the installation in console mode.
  
  or
  
  2) Upgrade the version of the cairo library to 1.9.4 or later
  
  or
  
  3) Edit <IM_install_dir>/eclipse/IBMIM.ini file, add the
  following 2 lines at the end of it and save the file:
  
  -Dorg.eclipse.swt.internal.gtk.useCairo=false
  -Dorg.eclipse.swt.internal.gtk.cairoGraphics=false
  
  Run the install again.
