IT06511: VIRTUAL APPLIANCE REPORTS ERROR CODE 1FD WHEN INITIALIZING APPLIANCE

APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • When attempting to initialize the virtual appliance which has a
    number of CPUs that are not a power of two, you might see an
    error code 1FD.
    
    This is a known VMware bug, #2003484.
    

Local fix

  • Provide the virtual appliance with a number of CPUs which is a
    power of two.
    

Problem summary

  • Affected are all Datapower Virtual Edition installations on
    VMware, using vmxnet3 virtual network interface.
    
    If the number of virtual CPUs assigned to the VM not equal to a
    power of 2, the vmxnet3 virtual NICs will fail to come up,
    possibly leaving the Datapower VM with no network connectivity.
