Error description

• During normal operations the WebSphere MQ Managed File
  Transfer protocol bridge agent's active transfers stall / hang.
   The agent restarts repeatedly by the process controller.
  
  The agent event log ( output0.txt file ) for the bridge agent
  shows the agent ending abnormally
  and restarting repeatedly.
  
  The ffdc directory contains ABEND.FTE and FFDC.FTE records with
  the following information.

Problem summary

  USERS AFFECTED:
  The APAR affects all users of WebSphere MQ Managed File Transfer
  Protocol Bridge Agents.

  PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:
  The Protocol Bridge Agent tried to access a file on an FTP
  server in order to write data to it.
  
  However, it was unable to access the file. Rather than
  generating the error "BFGBR0049E: Attempt to append to file {0}
  on the server has failed with server error ''{1}''" the agent
  attempted to continue with the transfer.
  
  This subsequently led to a java.lang.NullPointerException,
  followed by an abend of the agent.
  

Problem conclusion

• The product code has been modified to identify this error and
  correctly report the BFGBR0049E error.
