Error description
Using wild card characters such as ? and * on the 'backup vm' command will result in INCLUDE.VMDISK/EXCLUDE.VMDISK statements not being honored. For example, client option to include hard disk 1 is coded in the option file, this should include only hard disk 1 for backup processing. INCLUDE.VMDISK COPPER-vCenter-5.5-appliance "Hard disk 1" Running the Backup Vm command without a wild card character in the vm name gives the expected result, hard disk 1 is included, hard disk 2 is excluded. 1:57:51 PM: tsm> ba vm "COPPER-vCenter-5.5-appliance" -preview Virtual machine: 'COPPER-vCenter-5.5-appliance' disk: 'Hard disk 1' is included by user. 1. vmName: COPPER-vCenter-5.5-appliance DomainKeyword: vm=COPPER-vCenter-5.5-appliance toolsRunningStatus: guestToolsRunning toolsVersionStatus: guestToolsUnmanaged consolidationNeeded: No VMDK[1]Label: 'Hard disk 1' (Hard Disk 1) VMDK[1]Name: '[SSD:Raid-5] COPPER-vCenter-5.5-appliance/COPPER-vCenter-5.5-appliance.vmdk' VMDK[1]Status: Included VMDK[2]Label: 'Hard disk 2' (Hard Disk 2) VMDK[2]Name: '[SSD:Raid-5] COPPER-vCenter-5.5-appliance/COPPER-vCenter-5.5-appliance_1.vmdk ' VMDK[2]Status: Excluded - User Running the Backup Vm command with a wild card character in the vm name gives an unexpected result, all disks are included. tsm> ba vm "COPPER-vCenter-5.5-*" -preview 1. vmName: COPPER-vCenter-5.5-appliance DomainKeyword: vm=COPPER-vCenter-5.5-* toolsRunningStatus: guestToolsRunning toolsVersionStatus: guestToolsUnmanaged consolidationNeeded: No VMDK[1]Label: 'Hard disk 1' (Hard Disk 1) VMDK[1]Name: '[SSD:Raid-5] COPPER-vCenter-5.5-appliance/COPPER-vCenter-5.5-appliance.vmdk' VMDK[1]Status: Included VMDK[2]Label: 'Hard disk 2' (Hard Disk 2) VMDK[2]Name: '[SSD:Raid-5] COPPER-vCenter-5.5-appliance/COPPER-vCenter-5.5-appliance_1.vmdk ' VMDK[2]Status: Included Tivoli Storage Manager Versions Affected: Additional Keywords: wildcard honor
