IT04953: SERVER OR STORAGE AGENT CAN FAIL TO INSTALL ON ORACLE SOLARIS 10 DUE TO UPDATE LEVEL MISINTERPRETATION

Error description

• Tivoli Storage Manager and Storage Agent install/upgrade on
  Oracle Solaris 10
  can fail if "/etc/release" file indicates an update level below
  the desired level required, when it has been achieved.
  
  For example, installing Storage Agent 7.1.1 on Oracle Solaris 10
  with update 11 installed
  but "/etc/release" shows update 9, will fail with  following
  when update 10 is required;
  
  * [ERROR] IBM Tivoli Storage Manager storage agent
  7.1.1.20140829_1109
  contains validation errors.
       1. ERROR: Oracle Solaris 10 update 10 or later is required.
  The
  current operating system does not meet this requirement. Update
  9 is
  the current level.
  
  "/etc/release" shows:
  Oracle Solaris 10 9/10 s10s_u9wos_14a SPARC
  where u9 stands for update 9
  
  yet it is seen that update 11 is in fact installed:
  SunOS host_name 5.10 Generic_150400-11 sun4v sparc SUNW,T5240
  
  
  Tivoli Storage Manager Versions Affected:
  Tivoli Storage Manager server and storage agents 6.2.x, 6.3.x
  and 7.1,x on Oracle Solaris 10 platform

Local fix

• If it is confirmed that system is on a supported Oracle Solaris
  10 update level by checking against

  then until the fix is available, the os check can by bypassed.
  
  Follow for v7.x:
  Bypass the server and storage agent prerequisites during
  installation

  Follow for v6.x:
  Run the installer by passing the bypass variable.
  e.g.
  install.bin -DBYPASS_TSM_REQ_CHECKS=true
