IT04037: ANS4089W MESSAGE IS ISSUED DURING INCREMENTAL SNAPDIFF BACKUP

Error description

• With Tivoli Storage Manager Client v6.4.2 the snapdiff backup
  command
  
  dsmc  incremental -snapdiff  \\hostname \volume_cifs$
  
  reports the following warning message in the dsmerror.log:
  
  ANS4089W  File server file-server-name has been upgraded to Data
  ONTAP  version 'version.modifcation.submodification'. Perform a
  full  incremental backup by specifying option
  createnewbase=migrate as soon as possible.
  
  As a result, the backup is not taken.
  
  The problem occurs even after two successful snapdiff backups.
  
  As a side effect, in the Tivoli Storage Manager server activity
  log the following message is issued:
  
  ANE4089W (Session: ID , Node: nodename)
  File server hostname has been upgraded to Data ONTAP version
  '409305576.409961736.409983848'. Perform a full incremental
  backup by specifying option createnewbase=migrate as soon as
  possible. (SESSION: ID)
  
  where the numeric string '409305576.409961736.409983848' should
  indeed report the correct version of Data ONTAP being in use.

Problem conclusion

• The problem described in this APAR has been fixed so that it
  no longer occurs.
  

Temporary fix

• An interim fix is currently targeted for version 6.4.2.1.
  Note that until the interim fix is actually available, this
  information is subject to change at the discretion of IBM.
