Error description
If during the installation or upgrade of the Tivoli Storage Manager server on Windows an installation path containing a space is chosen, and on the same system exists a file or a folder that contains the same partial path name, the product installation fails at the DB2 step. For example, if the default installation path "C:\Program Files\Tivoli\TSM\Server" is chosen, and on the system already exists for example a file named "C:\Program", then the installation fails at the DB2 step with the following messages: ANRI1020E The DB2 installation failed. To review errors and correct any issues, review C:\ProgramData\IBM\Installation Manager\logs\native\tsm_logs\db2_install.log. The db2_install.log file that the Installation Manager requires to review results empty. Customer/L2 diagnostics: In the installation "C:\ProgramData\IBM\Installation Manager\logs\native\" log folder, the latest installation log file named <DATE>_<TIME>.log shows the following message: **************************** Command: "C:\Program Files\Tivoli\TSM\db2tmp\ESE\image\setup.exe" /f /i en /u "C:\Program Files\Tivoli\TSM\db2tmp\db2resp.tmp" /l "C:\ProgramData\IBM\Installation Manager\logs\native\tsm_logs\db2_install.log" stdout: stderr: RC: 1639 **************************** RC 1639 is returned from the MSIEXEC package and it means "an invalid argument was passed to setup.exe." The installation package fails to handle properly the file and folder path names. Tivoli Storage Manager Versions Affected: All supported Tivoli Storage Manager Sever on all supported Windows operating systems. Local fix
Install the Tivoli Storage Manager server to a path that does not contain any space. - or - remove/rename the file that has the same partial path name before proceeding with the installation/upgrade.
