Error description

  • Error Description:
    Using TESTFLAG REPLACEROSHORTNAME REMOVESHORTDIRNAMEONCREATE
mentioned in APAR IC85497 generates errors and interrupts
    systemstate restore prematurely.

    Customer/L2 Diagnostics:

It has been identified that systemstate backup does not back up
the short names for directories and thus they cannot be properly
    restored

Performing a restore systemstate with enabled the testflags
    REPLACEROSHORTNAME REMOVESHORTDIRNAMEONCREATE mentioned in APAR
IC85497 have as results a failed restore and a corrupted
    systemstate,.

The following message is issued multiple times:

ANS1796I The short name for 'X:\windows\TEMP\~adsm.sys\Program
    Files\tivoli\tsm\baclient\adsm.sys\VSS_STAGING' could not be set
to original short name '': Windows function 'SetFileShortName'
failed with return code 87, reason: 'The parameter is
    incorrect.'

This is cause because systemstate restore in WinPE mode does not
restore short names due to an issue with the target path name
using GUID rather than UNC name.

Tivoli Storage Manager Versions Affected: All Tivoli Storage
Manager client v6.x and 7.1 on Windows Platforms.
