Error description
When IPv6 SLAAC is used to provision redundant routers in a DataPower appliance, if the currently preferred router fails, the DataPower appliance will not switch to the backup router until the provisioned route lifetime expires. The DataPower appliance is not failing over to the backup router when the preferred router fails neighbor discovery and is removed from neighbor cache. The fail over does occur when the preferred route's lifetime, as set During SLAAC provisioning, is reached.
Local fix
Wait for the route lifetime to expire.
Problem summary
Affected is DataPower appliance in IPv6 networks using RFC-2461 Router Advertisement (RA) messages. In some cases, when the preferred router becomes unreachable, the firmware does not switch to the backup router, causing a temporary loss of connectivity. This recovers after the timeout in RA message expires.
Problem conclusion
Fix is available in 7.0.0.2. For a list of the latest fix packs available, please see: http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg21237631
