APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • When a DataPower service is configured with a dynamic backend
    and to communicate with the backend over SSL, DataPower might
    time out while reading the backend response.
    
    When this happens, an error message similar to the following
    will be logged:
    xmlfirewall (simple-XFW): Timed out while reading document
    https://backend-host:port/some-uri from remote source
    127.0.0.1:4096
    

Local fix

  • If processing of the backend response message is not needed,
    try setting the response type of the service to 'Pass-Thru'.
    

Problem summary

  • Affected are services configured with a dynamic backend
    and communication with the backend over SSL.
    
    DataPower might time out while reading the backend response.
