Error description
In a scenario where two separate sessions are established to the Tivoli Storage Manager server at nearly the same time, and the password for this client node has expired, both sessions will be forced to perform a password change. The first session will update the password and perform password verification. Then, when the second session also updates the password, the server will return error: RC6 = DSM_RS_ABORT_BAD_VERIFIER. When the client receives this RC6, the password file TSM.PWD will be deleted when this entry is the only or last entry in the file. This problem may happen with all data protection products that use the Tivoli Storage Manager Application Programming Interface (API). It was initially reported in apar IC92058, but the solution was not sufficient for large environment with many parallel sessions which try to do the password expiration at near the same time. | MDVPARTL 6.4.2 5698ISMCL IC92058 | Tivoli Storage Manager Versions Affected: 6.4.2 client on all supported platforms Customer/L2 Diagnostics: The following api return codes sequence are found in db2diag.log when dealing with db2: RC6 = DSM_RS_ABORT_BAD_VERIFIER.
