IT01416: ALERT MONITOR DOES NOT RESTART USING SET ALERTMONITOR COMMAND

Error description

• The Tivoli Storage Manager Alert Monitor may encounter
  an error that will shut itself down. The error seen when
    this occurs is as follows:
  
      ANR2740E Alert monitor could not start or has failed
               and stopped
    Attempting to use the SET ALERTMONITOR command to start the
    Alert Monitor appears to complete successfully but the
    monitoring agent does not restart.
  
  Tivoli Storage Manager Versions Affected:
    6.3
  Customer/L2 Diagnostics (If Applicable):
    The Alert Monitor encounters an error and shuts itself
    down and email alerts are no longer sent to the specified
    administrators. The Alert Monitor appears to be running
    but when using SET ALERTMONITOR to turn off and then
    turn back on the Alert Monitor it has no effect.

Local fix

• Recycle the Tivoli Storage Manager server to restart the
    Alert Monitor.
