IT00527: PERFORM LIBACTION ANR8396E LIBRARY IS NOT CAPABLE OF DISCOVERING THE DRIVES THAT IT OWNS

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• If the PERFORM LIBACTION command is run for a library that
  already has drives defined, the command may incorrectly issue
  the following message:
  ANR8396E PERFORM LIBACTION: Library LIBRARY_NAME is not capable
  of discovering the drives that it owns.
  The ANR8396E message above is appropriate in environments where
  SANDISCOVERY is not functional.  If SANDISCOVERY is working,
  the QUERY SAN command will display details of the SAN attached
  devices.  If SANDISCOVERY is functional and the PERFORM
  LIBACTION ACTION=DEFINE command is run for a library that
  already has drives defined, the command may fail with a
  misleading ANR8396E message.
  The Tivoli Storage Manager server should issue a more
  appropriate message when the PERFORM LIBACTION ACTION=DEFINE
  command fails on a library that already has drives defined.
  If drives and paths to drives are deleted the PERFORM
  LIBACTION ACTION=DEFINE command can be used.  See the
  Local Fix for more details.

  delete current drive and path definitions before running
  PERFORM LIBACTION LIBRARY_NAME ACTION=DEFINE command.
