APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • The problem only occurs if you use a profile which was created
from a newer source code level while compiling an older source
code level and then linking it with this profile.

During PDF2 link, you will see the following error:
1586-346 (U) An error occurred during code generation.  The code
 generation return code was 1.

Local fix

  • Use the newer profile along with the newer source code level.

Problem summary

  • USERS AFFECTED:
XL C++ users who perform PDF2 link and who use a profile that's
newer than the actual source code level may by affected by this
issue.

PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:
Although the above scenario is not valid, the compiler should
not abend.
The compiler backend was abending due because it was not
handling an incorrect symbol id table.

Problem conclusion

  • The compiler backend has now been fixed to handle the incorrect
symbol id table.
