Error description

  • The documentation @
    https://www.ibm.com/support/knowledgecenter/SSPLFC_7.3.0/com.ibm
    .taddm.doc_7.3/SensorGuideRef/r_cmdb_sensor_sqlserver_configure_
    access_list.html

    States;

    The TADDM SQL Server access list applies only to the SQL Server
    authorization. Always provide a separate WindowsComputer System
    access entry for the server to be discoverable.

    However, we have reviewed the code and confirmed that Windows
    Authentication mode also requires a Microsoft SQL Server access
    list, so the documentation will be changed to the following;

    The TADDM SQL Server access list applies both the Windows
    authentication mode and SQL authentication mode. If you are
    using Windows authentication mode, create a Microsoft SQL Server
    access list entry with the windows credentials.

Local fix

  • See doc above

Problem summary

  • The document section:
    Sensor reference > Database sensors > Microsoft SQL Server
    sensor
    states that the TADDM SQL Server access list applies only to
    the SQL Server authoziation. It must be corrected to indicate
    that the Windows Authentication mode also requires Microsoft
    SQL Server access list.

Problem conclusion

  • The section:
    Sensor reference > Database sensors > Microsoft SQL Server
    sensor
    shall be modified to indicate that the Windows Authentication
    mode also requires Microsoft SQL Server access list.
