IBM Tivoli Monitoring 6.3.0 Fix Pack 7 Service Pack 1 (6.3.0.7-TIV-ITM-SP0001)

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• The 06300700 Monitoring Server fails to start on zLinux
  platforms.  The TRANSFER Shared Library fails to load with the
  following eror message displayed in the Server's OpsLog
  file,
  
  /opt/IBM/ITM/REMOTE_czzptm1i_1/ls3266/ms/bin/kdsmain: symbol
  lookup error:
  /opt/IBM/ITM/REMOTE_czzptm1i_1/ls3266/ms/lib/TRANSFER: undefined
   symbol: _Z4HashIN3KT16StringEEjRKT_i
  
  The failure to start the TRANSFER Shared Library impacts using
  SDA, putfile, getfile and executecommand functionality.
  

Local fix

• Modify the following line in the Management Server's
  configuration file to remove the loading of the TRANSFER Shared
  Library until the fix is applied.

Problem summary

• The Tivoli Management Server does not fully start on zLinux.
  The Management Server's Shared Library "TRANSFER" is not loaded
  during Monitoring Server startup resulting limited functionality
   of the Management Server.  The limitation disables using SDA,
  putfile, getfile and executecommand functionality.
  
  
  On zLinux the  Tivoli Management Server version 06.30.07.00 does
  not start because it cannot load its required TRANSFER Shared
  Library.  The following error message is displayed in the
  Management Server's OpsLog
  ($CANDLEHOME/logs/<hostname>_ms_<epoch time>.log),
  
  /opt/IBM/ITM/REMOTE_czzptm1i_1/ls3266/ms/bin/kdsmain: symbol
  lookup error:
  /opt/IBM/ITM/REMOTE_czzptm1i_1/ls3266/ms/lib/TRANSFER: undefined

Problem conclusion

• The C Language Macro used to formulate the name of the function
  referenced by the Monitoring Server has been fixed to generate
  the function's correct symbol table reference value.
  
  
  The fix for this APAR is contained in the following maintenance
  packages:

Temporary fix

• Modify the following line in the Management Server's
  configuration file to remove the loading of the TRANSFER Shared
  Library until the fix is applied.
