Error description
When using adaptive subfile backups, the client will initially backup a "base" object. On subsequent backups, the client will backup a subfile or "delta" object. Both objects are required to restore the delta version. During expiration processing, the server will not delete the base object as long as one or more delta objects exist. This is true even if the base is marked for immediate expiration, such as when it exceeds the number of versions to be retained. When the file is deleted from the client system, a new client backup will deactivate the current delta. At this point, the RETONLY attribute of the associated copygroup should control the deletion of the last inactive delta. However, the last inactive delta is not deleted by expiration, even after RETONLY has elapsed. Customer/L2 diagnostics: The SHOW INVO command will report relevant information. For example, here is a base object (Delta Group Leader) Inventory object 646874979 of copy type Backup has attributes: NodeName: NODENAME, Filespace(1): \\nodename\d$, ObjName: \NODENAMEREPOSITORYA\FILENAME.EXT hlID: 3B71EC104ACA98A2D183855D0F37606036372766 llID: 4E1DA05E7A44C0A51DD575E5DBCF773BCB72A4F2 Type: 2 (File) MC: 1 (DEFAULT) CG: 1 Size: 9264988160 HeaderSize: 542 Inactive, Inserted 03/24/2012 03:43:16 AM (UTC Not Set), ** EXPIRE IMMEDIATELY ** GroupMap 0x00010000, bypassRecogToken True Delta Group Leader, GroupId: 646874979 And here is the dependent delta object (Delta Group Member), that has been deactivated (and in this case the deactivation date is more than RETONLY days in the past): Inventory object 647179382 of copy type Backup has attributes: NodeName: NODENAME, Filespace(1): \\nodename\d$, ObjName: \NODENAMEREPOSITORYA\FILENAME.EXT hlID: 3B71EC104ACA98A2D183855D0F37606036372766 llID: 4E1DA05E7A44C0A51DD575E5DBCF773BCB72A4F2 Type: 2 (File) MC: 1 (DEFAULT) CG: 1 Size: 9264988160 HeaderSize: 542 Inactive, Inserted 03/26/2012 05:37:49 AM (UTC Not Set), Deactivated 10/08/2013 01:05:46 PM GroupMap 0x00000001, bypassRecogToken NULL Delta Group Member, GroupId: 646874979 Tivoli Storage Manager Versions Affected: All Tivoli Storage Manager Server 6.2 and 6.3 and 7.1 on all platforms.
