Error description

  • With the release of Tivoli Storage Manager
    (TSM) 7.1
    a new feature "Automated failover for data recover"
    was introduced. This feature is associated with Node
    Replication.
    
    When using:
    - the TSM Backup-Archive Client, or
    - one of the TSM Data Protection Clients such as
      Tivoli Storage Manager for Mail: Data Protection
      for Microsoft Exchange Server
    in an environment where this feature is enabled,
    the backup client can crash when the automated
    fail over processing encounters a message
    which is not located in the dscenu.txt file.
    
    In this case, the message was ANS2120W.
    
    
    
    Customer/L2 Diagnostics:
    In the dsmerror.log, the following error messages are witnessed
    for this issue:
    ANS0106E Message index not found for message 2182.
    ANS0106E Message index not found for message 2181.
    ANS0106E Message index not found for message 2115.

Local fix

  • Remove the Node Replication enabled state for the affected Data
    Protection and Backup-Archive Client TSM Nodes and remove the
    automatically created lines from dsm.opt files.
