APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • A NDMP backup to a library defined as "LIBTYPE=VTL" using a
    Tivoli Storage Manager server version below V6.3.4 can
    fail with the following errors (seen in the ACTLOG):
    
     ANR8758W The number of online drives in the VTL library VTL_TST
        does not match the number of online drive paths for
        source NASNAME
     ANR1069E NAS Backup process 19 terminated - insufficient number
        of mount points available for removable media.~
     ANR1762E BACKUP NODE: Command failed for node NASNAME
        , filespace /vol/tst - mount point unavailable
    
    The first warning ANR8758W is normal if the NAS datamover does
    not have a drive path defined for all the drives in the
    library, but that should not cause the backup to fail when the
    library has been defined of type VTL.

    All Tivoli Storage Manager 6.3 server versions below V6.3.4
     (on all platforms)

Local fix

  • - Update the library to libtype=SCSI:
      UPD LIBRARY <VTL_LIBNAME> LIBTYPE=SCSI
    or
    - Upgrade the server to fixpack level 6.3.4 as this level
      already contains the correction for this APAR.
