IC98816: FFDC LOGGING MESSAGES INCORRECTLY

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• FFDC or First Failure Data Capture is not logging messages such
  as ANE4150E properly.  The resulting effect can be a TSM server
  crash that is preceded by ANR0162W and ANR3493E.  For example:
  ANR0162W Supplemental database diagnostic information:
  -1:42S22:-206 ([IBM][CLI Driver][DB2/NT64] SQL0206N  "VAR" is
  not valid in the context where it is used.  SQLSTATE=42703).
  ANR3493E Error sending an email for alert summary to the
  administrator with email address abc@xyz.com using the
  mail.xyz.com SMTP host server and SMTP port 25.
  Call stack from crash will resemble:
  _endopen(??, ??, ??, ??) at 0x90000000002dbe8
  fopen64(??, ??) at 0x90000000002e528
  pkFopen(??, ??), line 1361 in "psfile.c"
  outFFDCLog(??, ??, ??, ??, ??), line 4806 in "output.c"
  After the crash, subsequent attempts to start the TSM server can
  fail with ANR0162W and ANR3493E.
  Following output is seen when trying to start the TSM server
  after a crash:

Local fix

• -Add the following option to your dsmserv.opt file:
  ffdcmaxlogsize 0
  -Start TSM server normally.  Keep ffdcmaxlogsize at 0 until
  fixing level is applied.
