Error description

  • While in a PCOMM session version 6.0.7, a user selects the
disconnect button on the menu bar then attempts to reconnect.
The host name field has extra characters or symbols. The LU
name field also has a combination of letters and numbers.

Found APAR IC82521 fixed in 6.0.5 level but this is still
    occurring at 6.0.7 level.

The LU name in this case is from a POOL list provided by the
    Telnet Server.

Local fix

  • Disable the Quick Connect Bar option.

    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
Upon successful connection, Quick Connect Bar (QCB) in a IBM
Personal Communications 3270 session stores and displays the
host generated LU name from the LU pool. When the user
disconnects the existing session by pressing QCB "Disconnect"
button and connects again using the QCB "Connect" button, the
connection to the host fails since the host generated LU name
from the pool can not be used.

Problem conclusion

  • PCSTLNET.DLL has been changed to store and display the
"configured" LUNAME on Quick Connect bar for 3270 session.
The configured LUNAME could be a pool name or left blank to
use the default pool defined in the Telnet Server.

Fix scheduled for PCOM 6.0.10 Refresh Pack
