Error description

  • When the onconfig parameter LOG_INDEX_BUILDS is enabled an index
that is created on the primary server is transferred to
secondary servers as a sequence of index pages in the logical
logs. The algorithm used to transfer the index pages breaks down
the operation into a series of transactions sized so that each
transaction does not consume more than about half of the index
pages specified by the LTXHWM onconfig parameter. This is
designed to avoid a long transaction scenario. However, where
the server has a very large amount of log space, limitations of
this calculation may result in an incorrect determination of the
log space used by each transaction with the result that no new
transaction is started. For large indexes this may result in a
long transaction which does not get rolled back and may
    eventually block the server.

An index that occupies more than 2m pages on a 2k page size
server (1m on a 4k page size instance) is vulnerable if this
size represents more than 10% of the index space represented by
    the LTXHWM onconfig parameter.
