APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• Lanfree backup to a virtual tape library,  where libtype=VTL,
  that does not properly emulate the drive feature Append-Only
  mode, can fail with:
  
  ANR8302E (Session: 26, Origin: STANAME)  I/O error on drive
  DRIVE0 (/dev/rmt0) with volume 123456L5 (OP=ALLOWOVERWRITE,
  Error
  Number=22, CC=0, rc = 1, KEY=05, ASC=24, ASCQ= 00)
  
  
  This same failure can also be seen on the server if the library
  is defined as a SCSI library type.
  However, if the library is defined as a VTL library type on the
  server, the error will not surface,
  because the server incorrectly fails to utilize the drive
  feature Append-Only mode.  Please note
  that if the virtual tape library correctly emulates the
  Append-Only mode, there is no issue
  regardless of configuration.
  
  
  
  VTL's that do not emulate or support the Append-Only feature
  need to use
  TSMONLY for the CHECKTAPEPOS option on all servers and storage
  agents
  using the library.

  agents
  using the library.

• This problem was fixed.
  
  NOTE: When this fix is applied, the LOCAL FIX may still need to
        be applied until the VTL library correctly emulates the
        Append-Only mode drive feature.
