Error description

  • Certain large, contiguous memory allocations inside of the
DataPower firmware might cause unpredictable results including a
    firmware restart.

Local fix

Problem summary

  • Certain large, contiguous memory allocations in the DataPower
firmware might cause a restart inside of the allocator itself.
Such allocations no longer cause a restart inside of the
    allocator
itself, but if the appliance is low on memory then other things
such as the throttler might still cause the appliance to
    restart.

This is not an overarching change to how the appliance behaves
in low memory situations. It is a narrow fix to prevent
the allocator itself from failing incorrectly in certain rare
    situations.

Problem conclusion

  • The fix is available in 4.0.2.14, 5.0.0.9, and 6.0.0.0.

Temporary fix
