Error description
Status 12 pop-up message when trying to add new storage devices to TPC (or re-define devices that were deleted previously), or when trying to save a new probe job or performance monitor job definition within the TPC GUI. Observed messaging in the pop-up dialog box contains the following: [Attributes={}] [faultCode=SOAP-ENV:Server] [faultString=Exception from service object: HWN021802E Experienced SQL problems while working with database: DB2 SQL error: SQLCODE: -802, SQLSTATE: 22003, SQLERRMC: null.] [faultActorURI=/ITSRM/ServiceManager] [DetailEntries= [(0)=<detailEntry SOAP-ENV:encodingStyle="http://schemas.xmlsoap. org/soap/encoding/" xmlns:SOAP-ENV="http://schemas.xmlsoap. org/soap/envelope/" xmlns:ns1="com.ibm.tpc.common.api. TPCServerException" xsi:type="ns1:JavaObject" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3. org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" SQLSTATE 22003 with SQLCODE -802 indicates a failure due to a numeric value out of range detected during database insert, update, or delete operations. This is caused by the TPC code requesting unique identifier numbers beyond the defined range. Several issues including frequent deletion and creation of storage volumes within a subsystem, removal and re-defining of storage devices (switches/subsystems/SRAs), and defects in the TPC server code such as what is described in APAR IC90057 can cause this limit to be hit. As such, the TPC server code needs to better handle this condition and not prevent users from defining new storage assets and monitoring tasks.
