APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • Data from the Monitoring Agent is lagging by hours as the
    "q replication * F=D" response is very slow.
    
    Customer/L2 Diagnostics (if applicable)
    Turn on agent tracing.  You will notice a long lag from when the
    agent performs the query  q replication * F=D and it returns
    back data.
    
    Example output from the agent trace log:
    2013-04-25 11:40:09.000000 ReplDetails: TSM Query Command
    executing: q replication * F=D
    ...
    ...
    2013-04-26 8:44:40.000000 ReplDetails: Total Rows returned from
    TSM Node Replication query is: xxxx
    
    Look at the difference in date and time between the query and
    returned results.  This query should have only take a few
    minutes to return data.
    
    Run the query   q replication * F=D   from a Tivoli Storage
    Manager command line.  If the query takes a long time to return
    then you are hitting this issue.

Local fix

  • A) The TSM Server 6.3.4 is targeted to fix the slow performing
    query.  It is fixed indefect 90869 - apply once available.
    
    
    B) Turn off the Replication Node Details and Replication Status
    attribute groups
         1.  Stop the Monitoring Agent Instance
         2. Modify the configuration file to turn off the attribute
            groups  (WINDOWS, LINUX and AIX)
             A. Location of config file
                a. Windows: <install_dir>\itm\tmaitm6
                       Example:  C:\IBM\itm\tmaitm6
    
                b. AIX/Linux: <install_dir>/itm/config
                       Example:
                       /opt/Tivoli/TSM/Reporting/itm/config
             B. Name of config file
                a. Windows:  kskenv_xxx (xxx = name of the agent
    instance)
                     Example:  kskenv_myinstance
                 b.  Linux/AIX:  sk.ini
    
                 1 = turn on attribute group
                 0 = turn off attribute group
