APAR status

Error description

  • A list of backupsets from a Tivoli Storage Manager Client ("dsmc
    query backupset") may not show all the generated backupsets
    that are instead all correctly visible and listed on the Tivoli
    Storage Manager Server ("query backupset").
    
    
    
    Customer/L2 Diagnostics:
    To check if you are affected by this APAR you need to run a
    Tivoli Storage Manager client "service verbdetail " trace though
    the original defect is within the Tivoli Storage Manager server.
    
    A client  "SERVICE VERBDETAIL" trace collected on Tivoli Storage
    Manager Client while running the "dsmc query backupset"  will
    show the following message:
    
    highlev.cpp(2405): hlQueryBackupSet: cannot
    process:<backupset_name>  Skipping. Uplevel server generated
    backupset.
    
    
    This issue occurs even if the client is at a known level that
    supports the server level that contains the backupset.

Problem conclusion

  • This problem was fixed.
    
    Affected platforms:  AIX, HP-UX, Solaris, Linux, and Windows.
    
    Recommendation:
    Apply fixing level when available. This
    problem is currently projected to be fixed
    in level 6.3.5.
    Note that this is subject to change at
    the discretion of IBM.
    
    If level 6.2.0 or greater backup-archive client
    is currently in use please see APAR IC90656 for TSM 5.5 long
    directory name restore procedures.
