IC90153: UNABLE TO RESTORE DATA OR APPEND DATA TO TAPES WITH INCORRECT LOGICAL BLOCK PROTECTION VOLUME ATTRIBUTE

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• Tivoli Storage Manager server version 6.2.4, 6.2.5, 6.3.0,
  6.3.1, and 6.3.2 do not initialize the logical block protection
  volume attribute for tape volumes created with tape devices
  that are supported by the Tivoli Storage Manager device driver.
  As a result, Tivoli Storage Manager version 6.3.3 users may
  not be able to restore data or append data to tapes that were
  created with Tivoli Storage Manager server version 6.2.4,
  6.2.5, 6.3.0, 6.3.1, and 6.3.2.
  

Local fix

• For Tivoli Storage Manager version 6.3.3 users:
  
  If you are unable to restore data, move data to another volume
  in the same storage pool.
  
  If you are unable to append data to a volume, mark the volume
  read-only. The Tivoli Storage Manager server will pick a new
  scratch  volume for writing.
