IC90027: CLIENT MAY NOT ACCURATELY REPORT VM FILE BACKUP SIZES TO THE SERVER

Error description

• During a client backup using the BACKUP VM command, the client
  provides file sizes estimates to the Tivoli Storage Manager
  server.  These estimates are used by the server inventory
  component for reporting purposes.  In some cases, the estimate
  provided by the client could be larger or smaller than the
  actual size of the stored object.  This inaccuracy can cause
  the server to report inflated or deflated statistics for
  certain operations.
  
  The resulting reporting inaccuracies have been witnessed
  during server NODE REPLICATION processing.  The QUERY PROCESS
  command for a NODE REPLICATION process can show an inaccurate
  "Amount Transferred" when replicating nodes storing VM data.
  Also, the ANR0327I informational summary message for NODE
  REPLICATION can show a significantly inflated amount of data
  transferred to the replication target, when in reality much
  less data was really transferred.
  
  This problem only causes a reporting inconsistency.

Problem conclusion

• The file size estimate was changed from the maximum DAT size
  to a more accurate estimate that takes into account the actual
  extents for the file.
  

Temporary fix

• 6.4.0.4 interim fix for Windows and Linux x86
