Error description
The installation or upgrade of the IBM Tivoli Storage Manager Server or Storage Agent, on a system with more than 100 mounted filesystem, may appear to hang or take a long time between updating progress messages. In reality the install completes successfully but it can take more than 8 hours to complete. In one case it took 13 hours. Tivoli Storage Manager Versions Affected: All Tivoli Storage Manager DE Install/upgrades including the Storage Agent V6.1 V6.2 and V6.3 Initial Impact: Low Additional Keywords: TSM DE UPGRADE INSTALLATION HANG 100 FILESYSTEM SAN
Local fix
Unmounting the large filesystem during the DE install or upgrade will allow the install or upgrade to complete successfully. This is due to the DE no longer attempting to verify the remaining filesystems, as they have been removed from system access. This does not effect the installation. After the install or upgrade has completed, remount the filesystem and then start the server.
