• Closed as program error.

Error description

• The VMCLI daemon gets killed because of a OutOfMemoryException.
  
  The vmcli commands are failing with the error message that a
  connection to the derby database could not be established.
  FMM16012E An error occurred while running the function.
  FMM16016E An error occurred while connecting to the Derby DB.
  
  Platforms and versions affected:
  DataProtection for VMware 6.3.0, 6.3.1 and 6.4.0 on all
  supported platforms
  

Local fix

• Restart the vmcli daemon with the following command:
  /etc/init.d/vmcli start

Problem conclusion

• The memory leak in the vmcli daemon was fixed.
  

Temporary fix

• A fix for this problem is currently targeted for interim fix
  package 6.4.0.1. Until the interim fix is actually available
  this information is subject to change at the discretion of IBM.
