Error description

  • Error Description￘
    In some instances IBM Personal Communications has a delay of 30
    seconds before getting a session with the desired Mainframe
    LPAR. Packet traces show twenty failed ('UNREACHABLE') NBSTAT
    name look ups occured (over 30 seconds in total) before the SYN
    was sent. Once the SYN is sent the connection is quickly
    established.

    User was seeing a delay of 30 seconds before establishing a
    session with the desired host. Packet traces showed twenty
    failed ('UNREACHABLE') NBSTAT name look-ups occured (over 30
    seconds in total) before the SYN was sent. Once the SYN is
    sent the connection is quickly established.
    
    getnameinfo() Windows function call shows this delay if NETBIOS
    discovery is enabled.
    

Problem conclusion

  • PCSTLNET.DLL was changed to use gethostbyaddr() function call
    instead of getnameinfo() function call.
    
    Fix schedulted for PCOM 6.0.6 Refresh Pack
