Error description

  • Problem Description:
    HSM for Windows does not migrate files with file names, that end
    with a dollar sign, if backup-before-migrate is active. If such
    a file is found  migration stops. In some situations HSM for
    Windows considers a file ending on a dollar sign as a directory
    and appends a trailing backslash to it.
    
    Affected Products: HSM for Windows 6.3.0.0 - 6.3.0.1 (inclusive)
    
    Customer/L2 diagnostics (if applicable): Check the trace file of
    the migrating application (dsmgui.log or dsmclc.log). Search ff
    entries like:
    
    DSMGUI (104C:1CB8) TSMBackupAuditInterpreter::mf_onLine

     E: Backup failed for '\\myserver\u$\user\mydir\myfile$\*':
        Errno-value:    0x03000005 (E: Backup problem)

        Message-text:   The file \\myserver\u$\user\mydir\myfile$\*
    could not be backed up.
        Explanation:    Backup failed for some file.
        System action:  The file will be excluded from migration.
        User response:  Check the B/A client log file(s) for a
    reason. If backup failed due to a global failure, also check the
    log files of the program you ran for migration.
    
    In this sample "myfile$" is a file name.

  • Create migration jobs, that do not address files ending with a
    dollar sign.
