IC83259: STORAGE AGENT SILENT INSTALLATION LOOPS IF RESPONSE FILE NAME CONTAINS THE WORD "DSMSTA" (EX: INST_DSMSTA_1.RSP, DSMSTA.RSP)

APAR status

Error description

• When installing the storage agent in silent mode using a
  response file which name include the word dsmsta  the
  installation
  will begin to loop asking to stop any storage agent running  on
  the machine despite the fact that on the machine it is not
  running (or it is not installed) any storage agent.
  
  
  
  This is caused by the fact that the installation program
  performs a "ps -ef|grep dsmsta" for verifying if there is a
  storage agent running. Using a response file with word "dsmsta"
  in the name will cause the ps command to return at least a line
  and so to cause the request to stop any storage agent running
  before to proceed.
  
  We need to modify the installation guide for the silent mode
  installation for storage agent including the following note:
  
  Do not use response file that have in the name the word "dsmsta"
  otherwise the installation process will loop indefinitely.

  Tivoli Storage Manager Server  version  6.3.x  on unix platform
